, shepherd-entrepreneurs who built their fortune through sheep farming and the great transhumance that for centuries connected Abruzzo and Puglia along the ancient mountain routes.
Over time, the building has continued to be a lived place. Today it hosts the Municipio di Opi, mentre un’ala laterale, utilizzata fino agli anni Sessanta come asilo infantile, è stata trasformata nei primi anni Ottanta nell’ostello denominato Fresilia hostel, giving new life to spaces rich in history.
For this reason, staying here means inhabiting a place that has not been reinvented from scratch, but gently accompanied through time with respect and continuity.

The name Fresilia:

The name “Fresilia” recalls a mythical pre-Roman city mentioned by the historian Tito Livio, believed to have been a group of villages located on the slopes of Monte Marsicano.
Even today, ancient walls and structural remains testify to a deep and long-standing human presence in this territory.
Some names simply identify a place.
Others preserve its oldest memory.
