Val Fondillo and UNESCO ancient beech forests
Just a short distance from the historic centre lies Val Fondillo, one of the most precious natural areas of the National Park. The valley is crossed by trails immersed in beech forests, clear springs and quiet clearings, and it is considered one of the symbolic places of nature tourism in Abruzzo.
Within the valley are also some of the ancient beech forests recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site..
